Crane fish restocking - December 2015

The Environment Agency has confirmed that a second re-stocking of the River Crane took place in late December. The full quota of 8,500 fish were released at two sites along the River Crane:

Barber Bridge:

  • Chub x 1,000
  • Dace x 1,500
  • Roach x 1,500
  • Barbel x 1,000

London Wildlife Trust’s Crane Meadows Nature Reserve:

  • Chub x 1,000
  • Dace x 500
  • Roach x 500
  • Barbel x 1,000
  • Bream x 500

The fish were delivered over three days. All stocking went well, there was one casualty during Transit – a single roach, which is pretty exceptional from a total of 8,500 fish. Otherwise all fish arrived fit and healthy and hopefully ready to adapt to their new home! Many thanks to Tom White (LWT) and Chris Slack (LB Hounslow/Carillion) for arranging access and providing a helpful band of volunteers.
