Yeading Brook Meadows: River Habitat Workshop - 17 & 27 October

Hello all,

Here's something for those of you with an interest in rivers or working on waterbased projects. The Wild Trout Trust are running a river habitat workshop at Yeading Brook Meadows on Friday 17th and Monday 27th October @ 10AM. I would like to assure you that this workshop will be going ahead, unlike the previous two that had to be cancelled by the Wild Trout Trust.

The workshop is outdoor based and will focus on improving urban stretches of river. You will learn the basics of practical river habitat improvement and management and the skills associated with installing woody debris features such as deflectors and brash berms.

The workshops are aimed at anyone with an interest in rivers, from fishery managers to conservation volunteers or riparian owners. The aim is to provide you with the knowledge and techniques to be able to replicate what you have learnt to improve rivers elsewhere. All of this will be very good training for anyone who wants to participate in London Wildlife Trust's restoration of the Yeading Brook through Yeading Brook Meadows over the next year.

Workshops will be weather/conditions dependent so we may need to postpone the days at short notice if it doesn't look like it will be safe to work.

There are places for 20 people to attend each workshop. These will fill up quickly as this training will also be advertised to London Wildlife Trust Staff.

Please forward this to any river loving volunteers that may be interested and please respond to me (Tom White) if you wish to attend. I need to keep tabs on numbers.

Best Regards,

Tom White
