Crane Valley Project

The Yeading Brook Project Identification Plan classified a range of works that could be undertaken and a feasibility study was conducted to assess the viability of the works. The Project aims to improve the Crane Corridor for people and wildlife in the London Boroughs of Hillingdon, Ealing, Hounslow and Richmond. The river has been urbanised and at many sites is hidden from public view. We want to re-naturalise the river at four key green spaces in the catchment using nationally recognised techniques designed to enhance and improve rivers in urban locations.

We will engage the communities of Hayes, Uxbridge, Northholt, Whitton and Hanworth in an eight month volunteer programme of river improvement works. Local residents, volunteer groups, colleges, and businesses will receive training from industry professionals, allowing them to work as part of the team actively shaping the river in their local area.

Through these activities our volunteers will develop a sense of civic pride and community cohesion. We will also offer opportunities to volunteers and practitioners from elsewhere in London, allowing them to replicate our river improvement techniques elsewhere in the capital.

More detail on the volunteer events can be found here.

Activity details for November and December is published here.
